“Remember the fire inside.”

Good Evening all,

Tonight was the final night of our week at Bowles. To mark this, we had a campfire as a moment of reflection; a chance to remember those moments that have challenged us throughout the week, and most importantly – how we overcame them.

There have been difficult times for all the children this week. Whether that be kayaking the length of a river without capsizing, climbing a tricky rock face, or holding on for dear life to the dreaded zip wire – there were challenges a plenty here at Bowles. However, looking into the flames, you could see each and every member of Eagle class thinking about that moment of struggle. They remembered the feeling of panic and struggle before hand, and the elation that followed. I asked all the children to remember the ‘fire inside’ – the one that helps you get through difficult times. I want them to remember our trip to Bowles – not only throughout the rest of this important year, but for many years to come. And finally, I want them to remember the friendships they have made this week. Each one of them is significant, and many will last a lifetime.

Tomorrow we will be saying goodbye to this wonderful place, and the staff that have enabled us to enjoy ourselves this week. For this opportunity, we say thank you.
